A note from Nathan Schug, Operations Director…
Happy New Year!
As I have been reflecting our experiences last year, we are looking to improve and grow in the coming year both personally and here at Clydehurst. I was recently reminded about how Christ doesn’t leave our side, even when we don’t believe or know that He is there. He is ever present.
As we look forward into the new year, Clydehurst is continuing to grow, change and improve what we do and how we do it. I would love to remind everyone that we believe that Clydehurst Exists to provide experiences, environments, relationships, and programming that allows everyone to encounter the truth of the Good News of Jesus Christ. You would then ask how do we plan on accomplishing this? The Clydehurst style of ministry is one that is grounded in gracious hospitality, affordable quality, creative programs, and a biblical focus.
There is a ton of things that we are working on for 2024! Construction of the Shower House, finishing the landscaping around the pond, forest fire mitigation across the property, a new roof on staff housing, insulation of roofs, and foundations…….. and the list goes on!
In what way can you be a part of the ministry? Prayer might be the single most important element of this ministry that any and every one can do. This starts with simple things like safety of all who step foot onto the grounds. Preparation for the summer: the hiring process, the hearts of the high school and adult staff that will be hired. Leadership staff and how they will lead, encourage, and love on a minute-by-minute basis to empower all that they interact with. Property preparation with the ongoing projects that they can be completed in a timely manner and on budget. Prayer for the registration process and that God’s will wins out in this process. The hearts of the campers as they prepare for their camp, even though it is still 6 months away.
The next way to be involved in the ministry is to donate some of your time. There are many ways this can be done. We have an extended work weekend the first weekend in May to prepare the camp for the summer events. Additionally, we have workdays each Thursday throughout the winter. I know that this is difficult, especially if you have not achieved the ability to be retired or have a flexible schedule! Another option is to contact me (Nathan Schug nathanschug@clydehurst.com) directly and work out a plan to take on a specific camp needed project on a weekend or two when you and or friends are available. I would like to remind everyone that you don’t need to have a specific skill to be part of the ministry of Clydehurst. The needs span from raking leaves, picking up rocks to digging trenches, to fixing pipes, to mowing the grass, to even raking rocks (there are a LOT of rocks a Clydehurst). All you need is a servant attitude.
Another way to be involved, especially if you are unable to get to camp for one of the work events, is through your dollars. We know and understand that a dollar doesn’t go as far as it used to. We here at Clydehurst work hard to make sure that every dollar that is given to the ministry is utilized completely for what it was given to. Please refer to our donation page for the updated needs list. We here at Clydehurst are looking forward to partnering with you all, whether it is as a camper, volunteer, visitor, financial donor, prayer supporter or all wrapped into one!
