Steve is Director of the Doctor of Ministry program at Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon. He also teaches Bible classes in their master’s program. Previously, he served as a pastor for 20 years in Montana and 17 years in the north suburbs of Chicago. The most important thing to know about him, he says, is that he loves Jesus, the Word of God, and the church. He loves his family, too. Steve and his wife, Priscilla, have four children (all married) and eleven grandchildren.
In his spare time, Steve loves to teach, write, fly fish, and attend his grandkids’ athletic events and music recitals and concerts. In addition to his role at Western Seminary, he teaches as an adjunct faculty member at Moody Bible Institute and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Steve is the author of five books, including RISEN: Fifty Reasons Why the Resurrection Changed Everything and The Fly Fisher’s Book of Lists (co-author). He was a Theological Advisor for several Old Testament books in the Jeremiah Study Bible. Steve has been a friend of Clydehurst for years and has been a speaker at previous Family Camps and the Men’s Fly-Fishing Camp.

Gene Getz
Family Camp #2:
July 21-27
Dr. Gene Getz is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, earned a BA from Rocky Mountain College, an MA from the Wheaton Graduate School and a Ph.D. from New York University. He has served as a professor at Moody Bible Institute and Dallas Theological Seminary.
After 20 years in the academic world, Gene became involved in church planting and, in 1972, launched the Fellowship Bible Church movement. Today, some 30,000 people worship in approximately 12 churches in the Dallas area alone and hundreds of Fellowship churches throughout the United States trace their roots back to Gene’s church planting efforts.
Gene is also a prolific author. Most of his 60 books have grown out of his experience as a pastor. “The Measure of a Man” has become a classic and is used around the world for personal and group study.
In January 2004 Gene passed his lead pastor baton to Jeff Jones at Fellowship Bible Church North—now called Chase Oaks Church—where he and his wife continue to worship. However, He continues to speak in churches and at special conferences.
Gene now serves as President of the Center for Church Renewal. Unexpectedly, he was invited to do the Life Essentials Study Bible which contains 1500 “Principles to Live By” that are embedded in the biblical text from Genesis to Revelation. In addition, there is a QR code with each principle enabling the reader to view 1500 videos as Gene teaches each principle. Consequently, it is the first multi-media Study Bible and is now being used worldwide.
In addition, Gene has completed a Men of Character Study Bible which contains approximately 125 articles and profiles featuring men of the Bible.
Gene also airs a 2-minute daily feature on numerous radio stations called “Bible Principles” which can be accessed by going to www.bibleprinciples.org where you’ll discover information about Gene’s Life Essentials Study Bible. A free app is also available for iPhone, iPad and Android named “Life Essentials.”
Paul Jones
Family Camp #3:
July 28-August 3
Emmanuel was founded in 1952 and Dr. Paul Jones has served as the Lead Pastor since 1989. The continuity and stability of the church is further reflected in the fact that he followed his father who served as pastor before him.
Paul attended Liberty University where he played football for the Flames and graduated in four years with a B.S. focused upon Pre-Law.
At this juncture in his journey, Paul made a two year commitment to the Xhosa people of South Africa. It was while Paul was serving in South Africa that the Lord called him to vocational ministry. When Paul returned to the States, even though he sought further training in Seminary, he was unable to stay away from the practical side of ministry. So, at the same time he was doing graduate work he also served as Associate Pastor for the First Baptist Church of Millington, Tennessee. When graduation came in 1989, Emmanuel asked Paul to come and serve in Billings and he has served Emmanuel continuously ever since. In 2010 Pastor Paul went on to earn his Ph.D. in Church History.
Paul and his wife, Patrice grew up attending the same high school and church youth group. They went different ways but were reunited after each lost a spouse to a long battle with cancer. Between them they have 5 children and 11 grandchildren who are the delight of their lives. Paul is an avid sports enthusiast and loves the Montana outdoors.
PJ Lewis
Family Camp #4:
August 4-10
PJ was born in Redding, and grew up in Northern California. After graduating high school in 1982, he went to San Diego Christian College (then known as Christian Heritage College). He earned a degree in Counseling Psychology and a degree in Bible. But the biggest accomplishment was meeting his future wife, Sheri. They were married on Leap Year Day, 1988.
While in College, PJ and Sheri entered into the world of Youth Ministry together. After graduation, God led them to Carson City, Nevada, where they eventually landed at Hilltop Community Church and continued to be involved with youth. PJ moved to working more with adults in 2007 (felt a little like a demotion! Ha), as a teaching and counseling pastor.
In 2011, PJ and Sheri moved to the Well Community Church in Fresno CA, serving as a member of the teaching team, campus pastor, and family pastor. Then, in 2017, they made their home at the Well Community Church in Kingsburg, where PJ accepted the position as lead pastor.
PJ loves being with his wife and hanging out with her. He also loves the outdoors, watching sports, and taking a walk or a hike. You also might find him at the theater watching the latest Marvel Superhero movie.
